RECIPE
LAURA's BRILLIANT BOLOGNESE
INGREDIENTS
1 tbsp olive oil
1 onion (finely chopped)
1 clove garlic (finely chopped)
450g/1lb minced/ground beef
large glass of red wine (about 200ml)
400g/14.5oz can chopped tomatoes
METHOD
STOVE TOP SKILLET
Fry the onions, garlic and minced/ground beef in olive oil until browned.
Stir in paste then add wine to deglaze pan.
Add chopped tomatoes and ½ can water. Stir well.
Bring to the boil, then reduce to a simmer and cook for 25-35 minutes.
SLOW COOKER
Fry the onions, garlic and minced/ground beef in olive oil until browned.
Stir in paste, add wine to deglaze pan then transfer to slow cooker pot.
Add chopped tomatoes. Stir well.
Cook on high for 3-4 hours or low for 6-8 hours
NOTES
If hurried, put everything straight into the slow cooker, however browning the meat does add lots of flavor
Please ensure food is fully cooked and piping hot throughout before serving.
